President Ramaphosa to address the South African Heads of Missions Conference in Pretoria

Members of the media are invited to the opening session of the “South African Heads of Missions accredited to African countries” Conference to be held on Tuesday, 28 January 2020 at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) in Pretoria.

President Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address.

The Conference is convened for the President to outline South Africa’s strategic objectives for the African Union Chairship as well as provide guidance on how South African diplomatic missions abroad can support South Africa’s mandate of chairing the African Union in 2020.

South Africa will assume the one-year-long Chairship of the African Union at the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 8 and 9 February 2020.

Additionally, South Africa will concurrently assume the Chair of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and the African Union Committee of Heads of State on Climate Change (CAH0SCC).
