Minister Pandor undertakes Working Visit to Angola

 

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, will undertake a Working Visit to the Republic of Angola for diplomatic and political consultations with her counterpart, Ambassador Tete António, Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Angola. The visit is scheduled for, tomorrow, Sunday, 25 June 2023.

 

Minister Pandor and Minister António will utilise the occasion of the consultative meeting to prepare for the upcoming State Visit to South Africa by the President of the Republic of Angola, His Excellency João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, scheduled to take place during July 2023.

 

The Ministers will also discuss the state of bilateral relations between the two countries and exchange views on regional, continental and international issues of mutual interest. Angola is the incoming Chair of SADC and will assume this role from August 2023.

 

Whilst in Luanda, the Minister will also meet representatives of South African businesses operating in Angola.

 

Relations between South Africa and Angola are historic and fraternal. The two countries signed an agreement on the mutual establishment of representative offices in January 1992, with full diplomatic relations established in May 1994.

 

South Africa and Angola conduct their relations through a Bi-National Commission (BNC), which is co-chaired by the Presidents of the two countries.
