Minister Pandor to be a Keynote Speaker at the Opening Session of the Eighth Edition of the “AAAS-TWAS Summer Course on Science and Diplomacy

 

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, will this afternoon, 30 August 2021 at 14h00, be a keynote speaker during the Opening Session of the Eighth Edition of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Summer Course on Science and Diplomacy.

 

The course will be held virtually via the Zoom platform.

 

In the course, participants will be exposed to science diplomacy case studies presented by international speakers, as well as tools, skills, and networks to leverage science diplomacy to become change agents in their countries and sectors.

 

To strengthen the connection between the scientific and diplomatic communities, this year’s course will have participant pairs composed of a young scientist and a policymaker from the same country or region.

 

Minister Pandor is the recipient of the 2016 AAAS Award for Science Diplomacy, in recognition of her efforts in integrating science in policymaking, as well as advocacy for the inclusion of early career and female scientists in international collaborations.
