Message of condolence following mass shooting in Belgrade, Serbia
In this regard, the South African Government wishes to express its deepest condolences to the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the loss of lives following tragic shootings in Vračar and Mladenovac municipality of Serbia, on 3 and 4 May 2023.
On 03 May 2023, a shooter opened fire on students and staff at Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School in the Vračar municipality of Belgrade, Serbia, killing nine people (eight students and a security guard) and injuring 8 other people. This event was unfortunately followed by another incident on 04 May 2023 near Mladenovac, a town south of Belgrade, in Serbia.
The Republic of South Africa wishes to convey to the Government of Serbia its sincerest sympathy and thoughts to the Government and people of Serbia, the families, and friends of the departed on their tragic loss.
The thoughts of the South African people are with the people of Serbia during this tragedy time, and we wish all those injured a speedy recovery.
