DIRCO hosts workshop to review South Africa’s UN Security Council tenure

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) will host a two-day workshop on 25 – 26 July 2019 to review South Africa’s role in the United Nations Security Council for the past six months (Jan-June 2019).

This review will provide an assessment of the progress made, challenges faced and ways to improve South Africa’s engagements for the coming 18 months on the Council.

The midyear review workshop will comprise an inter-departmental segment as well as an open interaction with civil society. This process will also be used to prepare for South Africa’s presidency of the Security Council in October 2019.
