Minister Pandor to co-chair the SA–Iran Joint Commission of Cooperation with her counterpart

 

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, will host the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on Thursday, 10 August 2023, in Pretoria for the15th Session of the South Africa-Iran Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC).

 

South Africa and Iran enjoy an historical and fraternal relationship, with both countries interacting regularly, notably through the Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC), which was established in 1995. This is the longest running and one of the most active structured bilateral mechanism South Africa has with any country in the Middle East region.

 

Over the years, bilateral relations between South Africa and Iran have broadened significantly, resulting in the creation of several sub-committees based on the areas of cooperation and the signing of several Agreements and MoUs.
