DIRCO and partners to host a symposium in Cape Town
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) in partnership with the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) and the University of Cape Town (UCT) will host a symposium on South Africa’s foreign policy, aimed at continuing public diplomacy efforts to engage broad sectors of society in understanding and implementing our foreign policy.
The symposium will focus on South Africa’s role in a rapidly changing and fragmented global order. It will enable DIRCO and participants to reflect on the country’s foreign policy positions, including issues like the country’s expectations for the future of multilateral institutions, the recent decision to approach the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel’s actions in Gaza, and South Africa’s upcoming G20 presidency.
The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Alvin Botes is expected to give a keynote address at the symposium.
