Deputy Minister Botes to deliver Keynote Address at an Africa Day event

The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Alvin Botes, will deliver the Keynote Address at an Africa Day event to be hosted by the Cape Peninsula University of Technology on Monday, 27 May 2024, in Cape Town. The theme of the Deputy Minister’s speech will be: Celebrating Africa Day through Education, Innovation and Culture.

Africa Day is an annual occasion commemorating the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) on 25 May 1963. In 2002, the OAU transformed into the African Union (AU). The founding of the OAU was a decisive moment in Africa’s anti-colonial and anti-apartheid journey, galvanising the continent towards unity and freedom in the spirit of Pan-Africanism.
