VISAS TO SOUTH AFRICA
Australian citizens do not require a visa for tourism purposes in South Africa for up to 90 days. NB: Leaving and re-entering South Africa will not automatically give you another 90 days. Australian Citizens require visas for all other travel purposes.
Visitors’ visas to South Africa from Australia are for citizens of other countries wishing to travel for tourism or business purposes for a period of 90 days or less. Please check if you need a visa to travel to South Africa: List of Visa exempt countries. NB: Requirements for visas for foreign nationals residing in Australia differ from each country of origin and are subject to change. |
All visa applications must be done in person at the South African High Commission in Canberra by prior appointment. No walk-ins will be assisted. To book an appointment, please email: visas.canberra@dirco.gov.za
Consular Hours are Monday to Friday 08:30 am – 12:00 noon.
You must ensure that you apply for the correct visa/permit. Entry may be refused if the purpose of visit is not correctly stated.
Foreign nationals of other countries who are in Australia on short-term visas (holiday, etc.) must apply for visas to South Africa from their countries of origin.
Transit visas are required for Pakistani and Bangladeshi passport holders as per ID No.11 of 2022.
