• Notice of birth/ birth registration
• First ID book and ID book replacement (Smart ID Cards are only issued in South Africa)

• First Adult passport i.e. 15 1/2-year-olds who have never been issued with an ID book/Smart Card.
• Amendments i.e. Change of forenames / Change of Surname (NOT due to marriage or divorce).
• Emergency Travel Certificate
• Death registration
• Consent for minor passport applications (For parents in different countries)
• Notarial services and legalization
• Registration of South African individuals residing in Niger

To apply for a new Passport, or an Emergency Travel Certificate, you must:

• Complete an application form.
• Be finger-printed.
• Produce written evidence of your South African citizenship (e.g. a birth certificate, identity document, certified copy of passport, driver’s license). Where available.
• Provide a copy of the police report. (in the event of loss or theft)
• Present two photographs.

Pay the prescribed fee (as determined by the Department of Home Affairs)
