About Us

The South African High Commission in the Republic of Mozambique represents the Republic of South Africa in Mozambique and is responsible for promoting and protecting South Africa’s national interests, as well as advancing bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were formally established in 1994, following South Africa’s transition to democracy, building on strong historical, geographical and cultural ties rooted in the shared struggle against colonialism and apartheid. Structured bilateral engagement is conducted through mechanisms such as the Bi-National Commission (BNC), which facilitates high-level cooperation across sectors of mutual interest.

The High Commission, led by the High Commissioner and supported by diplomatic and administrative staff, delivers core functions including political and economic diplomacy, and corporate services. It also provides consular and civic services to South African citizens in Mozambique, as well as immigration-related services to Mozambican and other foreign nationals wishing to travel to South Africa.

The High Commission remains committed to strengthening bilateral relations and contributing to a peaceful, stable and prosperous Southern African region.
