Minister Pandor arrives in Sweden after successful visit to Finland
The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, has today, 15 June 2022, arrived in Stockholm, Sweden, after the successful conclusion of her Working Visit to Finland. Stockholm is the second stop in Minister Pandor’s three-nation visit to the Nordic region.
The visit to Sweden is at the invitation of the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Ann Linde. Minister Pandor and Minister Linde are scheduled to hold talks on 16 June 2022.
South Africa and Sweden enjoy a long history of excellent relations which are based on mutual respect, dialogue, consultation and co-operation. Furthermore, the two countries collaborate at the multilateral level on a range of issues.
Current areas of cooperation between South Africa and Sweden include science and technology, arts and culture, water and sanitation, digitisation and 4IR, energy, environment, education and skills development as well as human rights.
There are 63 Swedish companies present in South Africa with an investment capital of approximately R335bn. The companies are active in different industries, including energy, transport and logistics, ICT, healthcare, mining and capital equipment, retail and fast-moving consumer goods, etc.
From Sweden, Minister Pandor will make her third and last stop in Oslo, Norway, where she will meet Foreign Affairs Minister Anniken Huitfeldt.
