Message of welcome to South African Embassy Website 

Let me take this opportunity to Welcome you to the official website of the South African Embassy in Venezuela. This is intended to serve as aa tool of information sharing with our internal as well as external stakeholders. Through the Website, the Mission shall endeavour to disseminate relevant and up-to-date and useful information about the host country. This website is designed to be a one stop shop for access to online government information and services, and to give Consular notifications and announcements of cultural and other events. 

After 1994, South Africa was reintegrated back into the Community of Nations including the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) which was later transformed into African Union (AU) where South Africa played a crucial role. As part of African Renaissance, various institutions such as NEPAD, PEER REVIEW MECHANISM (APRM) etc to support the AU. South Africa’s Foreign Policy has deliberately placed the African continent at the centre.   

Southern African Development Community (SADC) is one of the concentric circles where South African Foreign policy priorities are anchored. South Africa and SADC’s history can be traced during the period of the anti-apartheid struggle when the “Front Line States” were established. South Africa is an integral part of SADC and has played a crucial role in resolving political crisis that engulfed some of the countries. This role was extended to the post conflict reconstruction and development linked to its 2020-2030 Vision or Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP). 

The Mission is committed to inculcating the spirit of Ubuntu (the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity “I am what I am because of who we all are”) and “Batho Pele” (People First) principles, in the provision of its services. This is reflective of our country’s values of putting humanity central to all that we do. 

The South African Embassy in Venezuela will continue to advance the cordial bilateral relations between South Africa and the host country and Colombia.  The Mission will strive where possible to strike the balance between the pollical objectives and economic diplomacy objectives.  Furthermore, we will, indeed continue to enhance people-to-people contact and further develop political, social, and cultural ties between our respective countries. 

South Africa is a developing country with a diverse economy. Globally it is regarded as an emerging market. Strategically located at the tip of the African continent, South Africa is a key investment location, both for the market opportunities that lie within its borders and as a gateway to the rest of the African continent, a market of approximately one billion people. 

South Africa is open for business! In terms of economic potential and has a relatively diversified economic base. It has a strong manufacturing base and globally recognised financial sector. The country has a strong tourism base but there is a room for improvement. South Africa’s economy is global interconnected with the rest of the globe. South Africa is becoming a frontier for new sectors of Foreign Direct Investment such as the green economy, oil and gas and ocean economy. South Africa has also been investing in energy to contribute to economic growth. 

We export a vast range of products to many countries and in all continents. Despite the depressed world economy, South Africa’s exports are growing in leaps and bounds considering the size of the South African economy. 

South Africa remains one of the world’s top tourism destinations owing to its diverse offering, world class infrastructure and positive global reputation, and remains in the top 10 fastest growing tourism destinations globally. The country’s unique offering is that it boasts a range of exciting experiences including active outdoor adventure, wildlife safari, city lifestyle, scenic outdoors, cultural and heritage sites and beaches. South Africa welcomes visitors to our shores.
