South African sprint sensation Bayanda Walaza powered to a dominant win in the men’s 100m at the Rovereto International Meeting, stopping the clock at a blistering 9.91 seconds (+0.5 m/s).
The 20-year-old’s performance set a new meet record and marked his fourth sub-10 second clocking of the 2026 season.
Walaza finished well clear of the field, with Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu taking second in 10.01s and Canada’s Eliezer Adjibi third in 10.09s.
The result continues Walaza’s impressive 2026 campaign, which has already seen him dip under 9.90 twice (including matching his personal best of 9.89s earlier this season). The Olympic 4x100m silver medallist and former World U20 double champion keeps underlining his status as one of the most exciting young sprinters on the global circuit.
