The Office of the Department of Defence is responsible for establishing and maintaining Defence relations between South Africa and United Kingdom.

Areas of responsibility include:

• Interaction with armed forces of the UK in the fields of military operations, logistic support, acquisition, procurement, technology, education and training.
• Provision of support to the South African Defence related industry.
• Promotion of the image of the South African National Defence Force.
