Today, as I stand before you, I feel the quiet electricity of a room filled with women who carry stories \u2014 stories of courage, of heartbreak, of reinvention, of triumph. Stories that have shaped families, communities, nations, and the world.<\/p>\n
We gather to honour Women Who Change the World, but we also gather to honour something deeply personal: The strength it takes for a woman to live her purpose.<\/p>\n
Purpose is not always loud.<\/p>\n
It does not always arrive with clarity.<\/p>\n
Sometimes it whispers.<\/p>\n
Sometimes it hides behind fear.<\/p>\n
Sometimes it breaks us open before it builds us anew.<\/p>\n
But when a woman finally steps into her purpose \u2014 fully, unapologetically, and with her whole heart \u2014 she becomes a force that cannot be contained.<\/p>\n
The Strength of Women: A Universal, Timeless Power<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n In South Africa, we say:<\/p>\n \u201cWathint\u2019 abafazi, wathint\u2019 imbokodo.\u201d<\/p>\n You strike a woman, you strike a rock. This is not a slogan of defiance \u2014 it is a truth about our nature. We endure. We rise. We transform.<\/p>\n The great Winnie Madikizela-Mandela reminded us: \u201cI am the product of the masses of my country and the product of my enemy.\u201d Her life teaches us that purpose is shaped not only by what nurtures us, but also by what challenges us.<\/p>\n From the Czech Republic, I draw strength from the words of Madeleine Albright, born here in Prague, who said: \u201cIt took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.\u201d Her journey reminds every woman that purpose requires voice \u2014 and voice requires courage.<\/p>\n And the Nobel Prize\u2013winning writer Olga Tokarczuk offers us this tender wisdom: \u201cTenderness is the most modest form of love. It is the ability to feel with others.\u201d Her words remind us that purpose is not only about achievement \u2014 it is also about connection, empathy, and the quiet ways we lift one another.<\/p>\n From South Africa\u2019s own poet Lebogang Mashile, we hear: \u201cWomen must rise. We must rise for ourselves, and we must rise for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n These voices \u2014 South African, Czech, global \u2014 echo the same truth: Women\u2019s strength is not a single quality. It is a constellation.<\/p>\n What Does Strength Look Like in a Woman Living Her Purpose?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Resilience and Adaptability<\/em><\/p>\n Women bend, but we do not break. Authenticity and Self Validation<\/em><\/p>\n A woman living her purpose no longer waits for permission. Purpose Driven Decision Making<\/em><\/p>\n Purpose gives clarity. Nurturing and Collaborative Power<\/em><\/p>\n Women build communities. Spiritual and Inner Grounding<\/em><\/p>\n Every woman I admire \u2014 in South Africa, in Czechia, across the world \u2014 carries a quiet inner anchor. How Do We Cultivate the Strength to Live Our Purpose?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Letting Go of Perfection. Perfection is a cage. Purpose is freedom. We grow when we allow ourselves to be human \u2014 beautifully, courageously human.<\/p>\n Setting Boundaries<\/em><\/p>\n A woman who knows her purpose protects her energy. Continuous Growth<\/em><\/p>\n Purpose is not a destination. Sisterhood<\/em><\/p>\n No woman rises alone. A Final Reflection<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n My dear sisters,<\/p>\n Every woman in this room carries a purpose that is uniquely hers \u2014 shaped by her history, her wounds, her joys, her hopes. And when women live their purpose, the world becomes more humane, more just, more beautiful.<\/p>\n As the Ambassador of South Africa to the Czech Republic, I have witnessed the brilliance of Czech women \u2014 in diplomacy, in business, in academia, in the arts. Women who lead with intellect, with heart, with humility. Women who remind me that purpose is universal, but its expression is deeply personal. Let us remind them \u2014 and ourselves \u2014 that purpose is not a destination. \nIt helps us choose what aligns with our spirit \u2014 and release what drains it.
\nIt teaches us that \u201cno\u201d is also a complete sentence.<\/p>\n
\nWe create safety.
\nWe hold space for others to grow.
\nOur leadership is not domination \u2014 it is elevation.<\/p>\n
\nCall it faith, intuition, ancestral wisdom, or inner knowing.
\nIt is the compass that guides us back to ourselves.<\/p>\n
\nShe knows that boundaries are not walls \u2014 they are doors that open only to what nourishes her.<\/p>\n
\nIt is a lifelong unfolding.
\nWe grow through learning, through unlearning, through reflection, through community.<\/p>\n
\nWe rise because another woman held the door open.
\nWe rise because someone believed in us before we believed in ourselves.<\/p>\n
\nToday, let us honour the women who came before us, the women who walk beside us, and the young women who will follow us.<\/p>\n
