If your passport is due to expire you have to apply for a\u00a0new\u00a0passport.<\/li><li>The processing of documents is done by the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa. However, all applications must still be submitted or forwarded to your nearest South African Mission. The High Commission or Consulate General Toronto do\u00a0not\u00a0have any influence on expediting the processing of applications.<\/li><li>To ensure that applicants receive their documents on time, they are advised to apply at least\u00a0<strong><span class=\"has-inline-color\">TWELVE<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0months prior to their intended date of departure or date of expiry of passports. It takes 6 months to process new South African documents.<\/li><li>No photocopying services will be provided. Applicants\u00a0<strong>MUST<\/strong>\u00a0bring their own copies as well as original documents then we will certify your South African documents free of charge if you are applying in person.<\/li><li>Fingerprints can be taken at the nearest police station, fingerprints taking centers or notary public office. Electronic fingerprints on police cards are\u00a0not\u00a0accepted.<\/li><li>South Africans are required to keep their passports valid at all times even if not travelling.<\/li><li>Adult South African citizens holding dual citizenship\u00a0<strong>must enter or depart South Africa<\/strong>\u00a0making use of a South African passport only.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>All forms to be completed in BLACK ink.<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Do\u00a0not\u00a0SCRATCH or use WITE-OUT on forms.<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Do\u00a0not<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>to write \u201cN\/A\u201d or draw lines through the form if the question does not apply, leave blank space.<\/strong><\/p><p>No\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> send expired passports to the High Commission to Consulate General.<\/p><p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color\">DHA-9<\/span>\u00a0AND\u00a0<span class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">BI-9\u00a0<\/span>ARE ONE AND THE SAME THING<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General information for all passport applicants Passports are\u00a0not\u00a0renewable.
