To enable this office to register your marriage in South Africa download and complete the form \u201cREGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE\u201d – CMO2<\/u><\/a> and submit it with the following supporting documents:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Your Apostilled\/legalized marriage certificate.
    You can obtain the Apostilled\/legalized marriage document from     legalisationenquiries@fco.gsi.gov.uk<\/a>, tel. No. 03700 0022 44
    Please Note: Apostille Certification can be obtained only from Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Once you get the document legalised, submit 2 x Certified copies of your legalised document (make copies of both the sides of the document)<\/p>\n

    1. If the marriage certificate is not in English, submit an Apostille copy of the foreign marriage certificate accompanied by an English translation by a sworn translator.<\/li>\n
    2. Two certified copies of your and your spouse\u2019s passport and ID document<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Current legislation stipulates that female married applicants may elect to use their married surname\/their maiden surname or a combination of both current married surname and maiden surname i.e. double-barrelled surname, without having to formally to apply for change of surname.<\/p>\n

      Person\u2019s whose surnames have changed may apply for a passport and\/or identity document, reflecting the married surname by submitting a letter confirming that she wants her passport\/ID document to be issued in her chosen surname.<\/p>\n
