THE AMBASSADOR
Her Excellency Beryl Rose Sisulu is currently Ambassador, Plenipotentionary and extraordinary to the United Mexican States and non-resident Ambassador to six Central American countries namely; The Republic of Costa Rica, Republic of El Salvador, Republic of Guatemala, Republic of Honduras, Republic of Nicaragua and the Republic of Panama.
Ambassador Sisulu began her diplomatic career in 2009 when she was appointed as South Africa’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Iceland until 2012.
In 2016 to 2017, she became Ambassador to Constitutional Monarchy of Japan.
In 2017 to 2019, Ambassador Sisulu was transferred from Japan to the Commonwealth of Australia as South Africa’s High Commissioner to the Commonwealth of Australia, and also accredited to the islands of Nauru, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Island.
In 2019, High Commissioner Sisulu was transferred from the Commonwealth of Australia to the Hellenic Republic (Greece) as South Africa’s Ambassador and also accredited to the Republic of Bosnia & Herzegovina, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia until 2023.
In 2023, she was transferred from The Hellenic Republic to Mexico and appointed as Ambassador to the United Mexican States and the above mentioned 6 Central American countries, a position she holds to date.
Ambassador Sisulu is fluent in English; Zulu; Xhosa; Sesotho; Setswana and Afrikaans.
She holds a law degree from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Durban, South Africa, and attended a Senior Executive Program (SEP) at Harvard University, Boston, USA (a joint programme between the Harvard University and the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa).
Ambassador Sisulu is married to Mr Daniel Stemmer, a retired diplomat.
