In coordination with the relevant Jordanian authorities, the South African Embassy in Amman remains committed to providing assistance and facilitating South African nationals through the territories of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The following land routes and border crossings from neighbouring countries may be considered for evacuation purposes:
1. From Palestine and/or Israel
Possible border crossings include:
- Beit She’an/Sheikh Hussein Bridge (northern crossing)
Hours of operation: 08:30 – 14:30
- Allenby/King Hussein Bridge (southern crossing)
Hours of operation: 08:30 – 14:30
- Yitzhak Rabin/Wadi Araba Crossing (southern crossing)
Hours of operation: 08:00 – 20:00
Please be aware that border crossings can close without prior notice. It’s important to verify that your specific crossing is open on the day of departure and to check for any changes to operating hours.
2. From the Republic of Iraq
Evacuation may be possible through the Al-Akarameh border crossing, which operates 24/7 on the Jordanian side (and is expected to operate similarly on the Iraqi side).
