{"id":2411,"date":"2025-12-18T08:47:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T08:47:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dirco.gov.za\/canberra\/?page_id=2411"},"modified":"2025-12-23T09:12:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T09:12:15","slug":"transit-visa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dirco.gov.za\/canberra\/transit-visa\/","title":{"rendered":"Transit Visa"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"2411\" class=\"elementor elementor-2411\" data-elementor-post-type=\"page\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"aux-parallax-section elementor-element elementor-element-a3a987a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"a3a987a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d31e684 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d31e684\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Transit Visa Requirements<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"aux-parallax-section elementor-element elementor-element-5079eb4 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5079eb4\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b9ded3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b9ded3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Minister of Home Affairs has exempted travellers transiting through the following international airports of South Africa from transit visas in terms of section 10B(4)(a) of the Immigration Act 2002:<\/p><ul><li>OR Tambo International<\/li><li>Cape Town International<\/li><li>King Shaka and<\/li><li>Lanseria<\/li><\/ul><p>Travellers transiting these airports will be subjected to biometric capturing.<\/p><p>Travellers using land ports of entry to transit through South Africa will have to apply for a port of entry visa.<\/p><p>Deportees transiting must be in possession of transit visas and at all times must be escorted failing which they will be returned to the airline that conveyed them for removal from the Republic.<\/p><p><strong>Transit visa will now be required for Pakistani and Bangladesh passport holders as per ID No.11 of 2022.<\/strong><\/p><p>Transit Visa requirements:<\/p><ol><li>Application form\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dirco.gov.za\/canberra\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/85\/2025\/12\/DHA-84.pdf\">DHA-84<\/a>. Application must be completed and signed in\u00a0<strong>black ink<\/strong>\u00a0only.<\/li><li>A valid machine readable Passport\/Travel Document valid for no less than (30) days after the expiry of the intended visit with three (3) completely blank pages.<\/li><li>Two (2) passport size photos.<\/li><li>Travel itinerary showing onward flight details.<\/li><li>Proof of visa\/permit\/residency status for the destination country is required.<\/li><li>An undertaking provided by the Government of the host country confirming they will remain responsible for the deportee(s) and receive deportee in their country of origin should it become necessary. Supporting documentation pertaining to escorts to be provided.<\/li><li>Transit Visa fee (where applicable). Fees payable are dependent on the nationality of passport held. Where fees are payable, the current fee is\u00a0<strong>AUD 37.00<\/strong>\u00a0(non-refundable). Check here to see if you must pay the visa fee:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dirco.gov.za\/canberra\/visa-countries\/\">Visa Countries.<\/a><\/li><\/ol><p>Payment must be in Australian Dollars (AUD) made out to the &#8220;South African High Commission&#8221; by way of Postal Money Order or Bank Cheque.<\/p><p>Personal cheques or credit cards are NOT accepted.
