Please do not answer &#8220;N\/A&#8221;, it is not an answer to any of the <\/strong><\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li><strong>Part A: <\/strong>questions 9, 10 and 11 are mostly important for the <strong><u>N.B. number 10(d)<\/u> <\/strong><strong><u>must also be answered, with circling a No or a Yes. NO if you are applying for the FIRST<\/u> <u>TIME for Retention. Yes if you applied for a Retention previously and attach your 1<sup>s<\/sup><sup>t <\/sup><\/u><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">R<\/span><u>etention copy.<\/u><\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Part B: <\/strong>The relevant status can be written next to the words Marital Status on the form (e.g. Never married\/ Married\/ Divorced\/Widowed). The details of the applicant&#8217;s current or former spouse must then be completed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/dirco.gov.za\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/04\/BI-529_Determination_Citizenship.pdf\">DHA-529<\/a> whether deceased or divorced or widowed)<\/li><li><strong>Part<\/strong> <strong>C and<\/strong> <strong>D:<\/strong> Both the parents&#8217; details must be completed including their ID.<\/li><li><strong>Part E: <\/strong>Ensure that form DHA-529 is signed. Valid telephone\/mobile number, email address (in block letters) and physical address must be.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>SURNAME &amp; FORENAMES<\/strong> (As they appear on your passport\/ID\/birth certificate)<br \/><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Please submit confirmation of proof of payment with your application.<\/span><\/p><p><strong>2.\u00a0 Certified copies x 2 of the following supporting documents:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li>Current passport<\/li><li>ID book or Smart ID Card<\/li><li>Unabridged Birth Certificate<\/li><li>Marriage certificate\/Divorced Decree (If married\/Divorced outside SA, then you need to submit Legalised\/Apostille marriage certificate) to be submitted (for a woman irrespective of will or will not change the surname).<\/li><li>If you have dual nationality, please provide proof as to how and when you acquired the foreign nationality, such Naturalization \/Registration Certificate or foreign birth certificate issued by the Embassy\/ letter from the authorities stating the date you acquired the nationality. (Please note foreign passport is not a proof of foreign citizenship\/nationality as it does not indicate as to when(date) and how you acquired the citizenship).<\/li><li>If it is in foreign language, it has to be officially translated to English<\/li><li>Letter of retention of your South African Citizenship i.e. Section 6 (2) if foreign citizenship was acquired as a major ( i.e. at the age of 18 and after)<\/li><li>Letter of exemption i.e. Section 26 (B) (if foreign citizenship was acquired as a major ( i.e. at the age of 18 and after) and before 6 October 1995)<\/li><li>Proof of South African citizenship i.e. South African naturalization certificate and South African immigration permit (if you are <strong><u>not<\/u> <\/strong>a South African citizen by birth\/descent)<\/li><li>Any other document that can assist in expediting and finalizing the process<\/li><li>A pre-paid, self-addressed special delivery envelope<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p>The average processing time is six
