The South African Embassy is situated in T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s capital city, Ankara, were it serves to promote South Africa’s national interests and advance bilateral relations with T\u00fcrkiye, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The Embassy also offers consular, civic and immigration services for South African citizens visiting or living permanently in T\u00fcrkiye, as well as relevant\u00a0 services for Turkish, Azerbaijani and Uzbekistani citizens\u00a0 and enties, or other nationalities residing in these countries wishing to establish or strengthen ties with South Africa.<\/p>

South Africa and Turkiye officially established diplomatic relations on 12 October 1992, after the initial presence of Consulates-General in Istanbul [opened 1991- closed 1996<\/em>] and Johannesburg [opened 1991- closed 1994<\/em>].\u00a0 In this regard, the Embassy is the sole diplomatic representative of the Republic of South Africa in Turk\u0131ye, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the are no Consulates General in Istanbul, Baku and Tashkent at this instance.<\/p>

Over the years, the South Africa and T\u00fcrkiye have concluded various agreements in various fields, including air transport, promotion and investments, police, taxation, customs, SMMEs development, tourism, training academies, science and technology, higher education, sports, among others. The countries still seek to conclude more agreements in the fields of agriculture, mining, energy, forestry, maritime \u00a0defence cooperation, military training and others.<\/p>

HONORARY CONSULS <\/strong>[Individuals\/Turkish Businessmen appointed by the Government of the Republic South Africa to assist the Embassy<\/u> with the promotion of bilateral relations, offering limited support <\/u>to South African citizens, facilitating tafde and cultural changes in regions renote from the location of the Embassy; PS \u2013 Honorary Consuls do not perform duties normal duties afforded an Embassy or Consul General<\/em>]
